Heart disease doesn't care what you wear ...
... it is now the number one killer of women in the UK

The purpose of this nationwide campaign, The Red Dress Campaign, is to spread the word that heart disease also affects women. We hope to motivate women to take their heart health seriously and take steps to lower their personal risk of heart disease.

It's a sad fact that every year nearly one in every six women who dies will do so from heart and blood vessel disease. And yet, even though coronary heart disease (CHD) kills more women than breast cancer, most women still think CHD only affects men.

More than half of female deaths and disability from heart disease and stroke could be cut through a combination of simple cost effective national efforts and by women themselves to reduce major risk factors such as:

Liverpool’s specialist heart and chest hospital, the Cardiothoracic Centre, is committed to reducing the shocking statistics of women affected by heart disease, through the RED DRESS CAMPAIGN.

Monies raised for the Red Dress Campaign will be used to fund gender comparative research at the Cardiothoracic Centre.
